Meeting minutes of June 13, 2002

Conference Call

Others present:            Rayola Jacobsen, Bureau Chief; Roger Hales, Legal Counsel;

Call commenced at 12:12 p.m. 

Agenda was reviewed with no additions or changes. 

Mr. Hales reviewed with the Board the proposed change in Idaho Code 67-2614 which would change the license expiration from June 30 to the licensees birth date.  Discussion was held on the logistics of implementing this change for the transition period in regards to continuing education.  Moved by Dr. Hollingsworth that the change be approved.  Seconded by Dr. Mayo, carried. 

Mr. Hales discussed the findings of his research on Chelation Therapy.  He stated that the issue is very complex and he will need more time to research.  He has been in contact with the Food and Drug Administration and the Board of Pharmacy.  He also explained that the Board of Medicine will probably be interested in the Board’s final determination. 

The revised version of the last page of the “Peer Review Procedure” was submitted to the Board for review from Dr. Sterling.  Moved by Dr. Mayo that the form be approved for use with the changes suggested (i.e. “Conclusions and/or Recommendations; Delete the question, What is your recommendation as to disposition of this review; and bring down to part 1 and part 2)  Seconded by Ms. Averill, carried. 

Next Board meeting was scheduled for September 10, 2002 beginning at 9:30 a.m.
